TAHE CARE IN THE SUN
This time of year, the sun is so inviting! But too much sun can be risky for your health. A light-skinned person can burn in less than 15 minutes. If your skin is darker, you may be able to tolerate the sun longer.
How to reduce your sunburn risks:
-Apply sunscreen about 30 minutes before sun exposure. Use at least SPF 15.
-Wear clothing made of cotton with a tight weave and a hat with a wide brim.
-Limit sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
-Use extra sun protection near water and sand. They can reflect ultraviolet rays causing sunburn more quickly.
If you get a sunburn:
-Take a cool shower or bath or place cold wet washcloths on the burn.
-Avoid products with benzocaine, lidocaine, or petroleum jelly.
-Dry bandage blisters (if any) to help prevent infection.
-Obviously, stay out of the sun all togehter!
